We’re knitters and fiber artists, too, and we especially love working with alpaca yarn! Cumberland Coast DK is the perfect yarn for that special shawl pattern you’ve been saving, or those socks you really (really) want to learn how to knit. Made in New England.
Alpaca fiber is ultra-soft, hypoallergenic, and contains no lanolin (which means no itch, we promise).
Our alpaca fiber is grown in Maine on our family-owned farm in Cumberland. We shear our alpacas each year and select the highest-grade fiber (from the back and sides of the alpacas). After sorting, our fiber is sent to a New England mill where it is cleaned, carded, spun with other Maine and USA fiber, and dyed.
4.5 ounces (300 yards)
6.5 ounces (400 yards)
80% alpaca fiber (Maine-grown), 20% merino wool (USA)
Wool products will shrink when agitated in water. For best results, we highly recommend that you gently soak your alpaca products in cold water or a no-rinse wool soak and lay them flat to dry. (Do not twist or wring dry.)
PacaNaturals was founded in 2013 by family-owned Abbott Farm Alpacas in Cumberland, Maine. At the farm, more than 40 Hucacaya alpacas are raised for their fine fleece. Farm owners Tom and Stacey have great admiration for and devotion to this unique animal with big, beautiful eyes and gentle demeanor.
All PacaNaturals products are handcrafted by local artisans, many from Maine. When you purchase a PacaNaturals product, you support local business, fiber growers, and artisans, too.
