About Us

It all started at Abbott Farm Alpacas.

Located in Cumberland, Maine, Abbott Farm Alpacas is home to husband and wife team Tom Munroe and Stacey Whitton, their children, various pets and farm animals—and more than 40 soft, cuddly Hucacya alpacas.
Tom and Stacey have been raising alpacas for more than 10 years at Abbott Farm and combined their backgrounds in construction management and nursing to develop their farm’s agricultural model and animal husbandry practices.

The more Stacey and Tom worked with alpacas—and their ultra-soft fiber—the more they longed to share fine alpaca products locally in Maine and beyond.

In 2013, Abbott Farm Alpacas opened the doors of their retail store, PacaNaturals, in downtown Portland, Maine. Since then, the store has expanded and moved closer to the family farm in Cumberland, Maine. Local knitters and fiber artisans handcraft each item—making them extra-special and unique. When you purchase PacaNaturals products, you support Maine fiber growers, artisans, and local businesses, too!

PacaNaturals alpaca products include sweaters, mittens, yarn, fiber, and PacaNaturals’ exclusive and limited-edition Maine Alpaca Blanket. Each item at PacaNaturals is as soft as cashmere and warmer than wool. Unlike sheep’s wool, alpaca fiber is not prickly—we promise. Even better, alpaca fiber won’t make you itch because it has no lanolin and is hypoallergenic.

Speaking of fiber, alpaca fleeces are rated on a scale of 1 to 6, with 1 being the finest (which means individual fibers are less than 20 microns in diameter). The best fiber comes from the side and back of the animal. How does fiber rating make a difference at PacaNaturals? For our Maine Alpaca Blanket, we use grades 1 to 4—the softest, most durable fibers available.

Soft enough for the most sensitive skin, and durable enough to last, PacaNaturals fiber and handcrafted items are sure to become cherished family heirlooms.
