Spring Open House and Meet the Alpacas

Grace in pastureJust as we thought spring was shining through, winter comes back! That is Maine, for ya, isn’t it? Well, all of us at PacaNaturals are expecting spring to come (at some point) and we are getting ready.

We have got a busy springtime planned with a Spring Open House/Meet the Alpacas event on Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17th at our new store in Cumberland. We will have a petting area where you can meet and pet the alpacas and learn more about their adorable personalities. Expand your knowledge about their history, how they live on our farm and how their gorgeous fleece coats can be made into fantastically soft and warm clothing and blankets.

At the open house, you can enjoy wonderful storewide sales on all apparel, blankets, socks, yarn, felted soaps, and so much more. There will be door prizes, a gift basket giveaway, fiber arts, and refreshments.

So please join us for our Spring Open House at PacaNaturals on April 16 & April 17 from 12-5. Our new store is located at 194 Gray Road in Cumberland, across the street from Skillins Greenhouse. Come meet and pet the alpacas and see how all of our products come to be.

Mid-winter savings at PacaNaturals!

We, at PacaNaturals, are so happy to be in our new store in Cumberland. We are in a great neighborhood on Rt 100/26 and in the company of other fine retailers… Skillins Greenhouse, GoosePond Gift Shop, Skin Deep Salon and Spa, and CHOP (Cumberland House of Pizza) to name a few. We enjoy having twice as much space inside the store as we did in our Portland store. We have done well to fill up the display area with all of our great alpaca apparel and blankets.

While it was a mad rush for us to get our new store open, we finally opened on Black Friday and the holiday season was a good one all in all. We had a great reception from the local people that are happy to support a new small business nearby. It is nice meeting new customers coming in saying “Great to see your “NOW OPEN” sign”, welcome to the neighborhood.” So nice, also, to have some of our old patrons from the Portland store follow us to our new location.

As we cruise through the winter, we want you to know what is happening at our store. We’ve got some fabulous mid-winter sales on alpaca apparel and blankets right now. Needing to unload some of last year’s inventory, we are excited to tell you about our big list of storewide savings. ….. And, again, we are offering the Maine Alpaca Couch Throw at a significant savings of $30-$40 off regular price…sale price until March 5 is $125. The blanket is made with fiber from alpacas grown and farmed in Maine. This warm and soft couch throw is 50″ x 60″ in size, very lightweight, yet extremely warm. Available in two patterns: striped and plaited twill. Check out our Maine Alpaca Blanket Facebook page for photos…we, also, have the blanket on Etsy.com and on our on-line store…pacanaturals.com.

So far this winter, we have had some strange and unpredictable weather. The temperatures could go from the low 20’s one day, and up to 50 degrees the next. Those warm days give me spring fever Big Time! We have a busy springtime planned with events at the store, including a Spring Fling Open House in April, where you can meet and greet the alpacas and enjoy some more great sales on our storewide apparel and blankets. Stay tuned for more details as we move towards Spring.
We start to get a little busy at our farm come Spring, as well. Spring is when we shear the alpacas (give them a shave). We call it harvesting the fiber. We use local mills to process the fleece into beautiful yarns, and then employ local knitters, weavers, and felters to produce our fine products you will see in the store. We plan to host a Spring Harvest event at the store where you can see and learn about alpaca shearing and the fiber production process. We will share the details with you soon regarding this event as they come together.
Stop by our new store to enjoy some great savings on alpaca wear throughout the store! PacaNaturals can help you stay warm through the rest of the winter ….however long that may be.

Our new store!

IMAG00493[1]If you haven’t already heard, PacaNaturals closed its downtown Portland store and re-opened at a new location in Cumberland, Maine!

We had a good go at our old store in town for almost 4 years but outgrew the space we were in. We couldn’t be more excited to be here in Cumberland in a new building with twice the amount of store space and closer to our farm.

PacaNaturals still offers Maine-made alpaca apparel, hats, scarves, mittens, socks and the Maine Alpaca Blanket.  We have very easily and quickly filled up the product display areas with  new inventory in great new colors and designs. We also have stocked up our selection of alpaca yarn, offering alpaca blend yarn skeins in many colors and yardages.

We will  have a mid- winter open house in February, where we will have some great sales, snacks and beverages, and meet and greet petting area for the alpacas….so stay tuned for the specifics and date and time!

Christmas With Alpacas Begins!

We kicked off Christmas with Alpacas today at the Maine Mall! It was a great day and we filled the old DMV building with some of our great products, a kids’ craft section, and Liam, one of our animals. The post-Thanksgiving and Black Friday rush was awesome and we got to meet a ton of people. We loved hanging out with everyone who stopped by and Liam did, too!

Didn’t make it today? No worries – we’ll be back to the Maine Mall tomorrow with the same set-up, alpaca included! If you’re still recovering from your post-holiday haze, we’ll be at Estabrook’s Farm in Yarmouth next weekend (Dec. 6 and 7) to continue the Christmas with alpacas fun!

Here are some photos from the first day of the event:

Alpaca Sweater: Acadia

In this week’s installment of Alpaca Sweater (again, it’s a pun), we’re headed to Acadia National Park. First of all, the drive to this national landmark is a beautiful one, which in only then overshadowed by Acadia itself. And, because it’s late fall, you’d better take this trip soon or else you’ll miss the remaining foliage! You’ve got a little bit of time left before the trees go bare bones – but, even if you don’t make it up North for a few more weeks, at least you know you’ll never be missing the pines. So, let’s pack a sweater and hit the road to one of Maine’s biggest claims to fame. Continue reading Alpaca Sweater: Acadia

Alpaca Sweater: Boston!

It’s almost snow season, so it’s best to get down South before the weather starts acting up. By South, of course, we mean Boston, the Hub of New England. And even though it’s only a touch over two hours away, nobody likes traveling in the winter, so you better hurry now! There’s plenty to do in Boston, and if you’re smart, you’ll make a full weekend out of it. So, in our next installment of Alpaca Sweater, we’re taking you to Beantown and, instead of throwing things at you that you’ve already heard of (think: Top of the Hub, the Aquarium, Duck Tours), we’ve got a few lesser known spots for you to check out. So, yes – pack a sweater, and some good shoes, and let’s get this show on the road! Continue reading Alpaca Sweater: Boston!
